Last minute offer October break

LAST MINUTE OFFER OCTOBER BREAK.

Our last minute October break has now been booked. The next week that we have available is 10-17 November. We are leaving this post up as it has lots of information, and pictures that may be of interest. The “things to do” still apply if you can come and stay during the winter months.

We were offering the week 27 October to 3 November at special last minute rates.

This was the first week that we have had available since March. Every other week has been fully booked. Many local residents think October is the best month in the Lake District. The crowds have thinned out, the trees are beginning to change colour, the air is fresh and it feels good to get outside.

Here’s a photo taken last year by a guest enjoying a short walk from Brockstone Grasmere Cottage

No Summer Holiday Weeks in our Grasmere Cottage left ! I wrote this piece on Saturday, 2 June 2018. It’s now Wednesday 6 June and I’m delighted to say that all three weeks have now been booked! I’ll leave the post up, as it has lots of useful information in it.

You can walk from Brockstone Grasmere Cottage to Ambleside Sports in about 20 minutes along a beautiful path. Here’s the official website for Ambleside Sports. It’s a great thing to do on Summer Holiday. Here’s an article I wrote the other year about Ambleside Sports and things to do in the Lake District in summer.

July Offer Save £100

We have a special July Offer for the week from Saturday 7 to Saturday 14 July. The rate was £845, but it has now been reduced to £745, so if you have a free week in your diary book this week at Brockstone Grasmere Cottage and save £100 on the usual rate by using our July Offer.

Why visit in early July?

Why would early July be a great time to visit the Lakes? The Lake District has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the summer, especially the school holidays, the area will be pretty busy. Grasmere is a “honeypot village” where tourists flock to see Wordsworth’s grave, and visit Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum.

Lake District Daffodils

The Lake District daffodils have been slow to appear this year. Cold weather and snow have held them back, However, in the last few days yellow buds are opening up everywhere. I’ve written lots of articles and blog posts about daffodils in the past. Here are some links if you would like to take a look.

Have you a free week from 17-24 March 2018? Could you re arrange things a little? After the Beast from the East, the snow, the wind and the long, long winter, treat yourself to a Lake District break. We’d love to hear from you.

The snow won’t last

The snow won’t last.

March has started snowy, windy and cold in many parts of the UK, but the snow won’t last. Here in the Lakes, around Grasmere, we’ve had very little snow, but it is cold and windy and there is no way that you would want to sit outside.

However, here are a few photos taken in April last year, to remind you that very soon the snow will have gone and good times will roll.

The Beast from the East – winter in the Lake District

The Beast From the East winter in the Lake District.

The Beast from the East is the catch phrase being used for the blast of cold weather that is about to hit us this week. So far, in the Lake District, the result of this cold easterly weather pattern has been fabulous. Blue skies and sunshine. Here’s a photo from November. The weather today is very similar. This is the best of winter in the Lake District.

A still Rydal Water reflects the sky in November

Yes, it has been cold, but dry sunny cold weather is great for walking. At the end of the day a soak in a hot bath ( with spa bubbles) a lovely meal, maybe enoy a glass or two of wine or a local specialist beer from one of our many micro breweries.Relax by the log burning stove.

We have two weeks available between now and July. These are the weeks 10-17 March, which was £590 but has been reduced to £490, and the week 17-24 March, which was £690, now reduced to £590. The log burning stove is laid for you to light on arrival, but the cottage is always very cosy due to the efficient central heating. The Lake District is wonderful to visit at any time of year. Take a look at this article for more information.

The views from Brockstone Grasmere Cottage in this clear weather are wonderful. Here’s a picture to give you an idea of a crisp winter day at the cottage. It’s possible, if you wrap up, to have lunch on the terrace, even in January, February and March.
